IHG Rewards Club’s PointBreaks is traditionally one of the best promotions in the hotel industry. Through this promotion, select hotels are available for just 5,000 points per night. Since IHG Rewards Club points can be purchased for as little as ~0.6 cents per point, that’s like booking stays at certain hotels for an incredible $30 per night.
I’ve just been informed that IHG Rewards Club will be releasing the full list of new PointBreaks hotels tomorrow (Friday, April 21) at 12PM EST. At that point the new PointBreaks list will be visible here (the link doesn’t show the updated list yet, but rather still shows the first quarter list) which will be valid for bookings and stays between April 24 and July 31, 2017 (though the better hotels tend to sell out pretty quickly).
They’ve provided a sampling of some of the roughly 100 hotels that will be on the list, including the following:
HUALUXE® Nanchang High-Tech Zone
Holiday Inn Express® Kuala Lumpur City Centre
Holiday Inn Express® Baruna Bali
Holiday Inn Express® Brisbane Central
Candlewood Suites® Queretaro Juriquilla
Crowne Plaza® Vilnius
Holiday Inn® Budapest – Budäors
Staybridge Suites® St. Louis – Westport
The Crowne Plaza Vilnius will be on the next PointBreaks list
That’s not a terribly inspiring list so far, and frankly I don’t expect it will be, given that this is for travel over the peak summer period. Still, at only 5,000 points per night, these hotel stays really are a steal.
Keep in mind that if you have the IHG® Rewards Club Select Credit Card, you get a 10% refund on points redemptions, for a refund of up to 100,000 points per year. That lowers the cost per award night for those with the card to 4,500 points, which is even better.
Arguably there are even better benefits to the card, including Platinum status for as long as you have the card, plus an annual free night certificate, valid at any IHG property in the world.
I’ll be sure to share the full list tomorrow.
